Imagine the Midi music festival on a beach and you could get an idea of
what the Big Love Beach Festival is going to be like. After the Midi
festival in May, which is China's largest outdoor musical event, music
fans are gearing up for a cool beach festival set for August 24 to 26 at
the holiday resort of Beidaihe, Hebei Province.
With three days of music covering many popular genres, this looks to be
the biggest beach bash of the year with two massive stages and one indoor
chill out zone.
More than 100 Chinese and foreign musicians will perform electro,
hip-hop, folk and punk rock for an audience of about 10,000 right on the
sand.
Among them are rock bands Reflector and Honey Gun, Beijing techno
musician Sulumi, and DJ @llen, who enjoys the title of godfather of
electronic dance music in Taiwan. Many of these musicians are active
performers on the Midi stages, such as The Suffocated and Yin Cang.
The festival will also feature a variety of other activities including
barbecues, installation art, beach volleyball, and scuba diving,
according to the event's organizer.
Bring a bathing suit and plenty of suntan lotion. Camping is welcome.
Bring your own tent or rent one on location.
The cheapest tickets only cover the performances while the expensive
tickets cover a Beijing to Beidaihe shuttle bus and hotel accommodation.
Take the shuttle bus at Worker's Stadium North Gate, 4pm-8pm, Aug 24,
9am-6pm, Aug 25.
Advance tickets purchased before Aug 20 are 120-550 yuan for one day, or
160-890 yuan for three days.
